The Foundation exists to promote professional and personal preparedness and response and recovery practices through proactive and real-time engagement with organizations and communities impacted by disaster and crisis events.

With that noble mission in mind, our Board of Directors collectively represent years of experience within the fields of business continuity, disaster recovery, risk and crisis management and emergency management. We are proud that our board members embody the values, drive and responsibility to fulfill this mission whenever and wherever possible by helping communities impacted by disaster connect with relief organizations worldwide and proactive advocacy for those most in need.

AnneMarie Staley, CBCP, MBCI

AnneMarie Staley is the Global Business Continuity Manager for AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. in New York.  AmTrust is a multinational property and casualty insurer specializing in coverage for small to mid-sized businesses. With extensive underwriting experience, AmTrust has earned a reputation as an innovative, technology-driven provider of insurance products. AmTrust is listed on the NASDAQ global Market under the symbol AFSI.

Prior to AmTrust, AnneMarie was the Managing Director for Global Business Continuity Management at the New York Stock Exchange between 2000 and 2014. Due in part to her innovative management of BCM at the New York Stock Exchange, the NYSE received the NYC OEM Private Partner in Preparedness Award. Her prior fields of business experience include Law, Investment Banking and Philanthropy.

AnneMarie is Chair of the DRI Foundation; the philanthropic arm of DRI International and, Chair of the DRI Awards of Excellence Program; a program that honors and bestows awards to business continuity professionals and organizations each year at the annual DRI Conference.

Industry memberships include: BCP Steering Committee for SIFMA (Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association); Contingency Planning Exchange (CPE); and Association for Contingency Planners (ACP), Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC), Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and others. She is ITIL Foundation certified and has been a certified business continuity professional (CBCP) through DRI since 2004 and is an MBCI through the Business Continuity Institute.  AnneMarie resides in Edison, NJ with her husband Kevin.

Jerry Vevon, CBCP, CBCV, CPSCP

Jerry has 38 years of management, leadership, and intelligence analytical experience including strategic planning; cyber security analysis and developing methodologies; continuity of operations and business recovery planning; vulnerability assessments and force protection. Served on active duty in the US Army as a Ranger-qualified master parachutist. At Strategic Operational Solutions (STOPSO) he leads the Intelligence Community business area. As a Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton and then Life Cycle Engineering, he led technology solutions practices providing cost-effective Information Technology solutions specializing in Continuity of Operations, Cyber Security, Information Assurance, Software Engineering, and IT Operations.  He has received the CIA National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction, the US Army Military Intelligence Knowlton Award and is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Serves as Vice Chairman of the Disaster Recovery International Foundation (DRIF). Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and Certified Public Sector Continuity Professional (CPSCP)

Alan BermanPresident

Alan Berman
President, DRI International

Alan Berman is an MBCP, a member of the ASIS BS25999 technical committee, a member of the Committee of Experts for ANSI-ANAB, a former member of the NY City Partnership for Security and Risk Management and the co-chair for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation committee to create the new standard for the US Private Sector Preparedness Act (PL 110-53).  Over a career that has spanned 25 years he has served as a President and CIO for a major financial institution, National Practice Leader for Operational Resiliency for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Global Business Continuity practice leader for Marsh.

Chloe Demrovsky
Executive Director, DRI International

Chloe Demrovsky, CBCV, is the Executive Director for Disaster Recovery Institute International, a professional training company for Fortune 500 companies and government bodies, where she designs and implements the international market development strategy and manages a global partnership network in 50 countries. She has participated in on-site briefings for government bodies and international organizations as well as for visiting groups including the Moscow Mechanical Institute of Munitions, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East, and the Sino-Canadian Tech Exchange. She manages DRI’s Business Resilience Glossary and acts as International Editor for Thrive Magazine and Revista Thrive Iberoamerica.  She has presented at industry conferences and events on four continents, most recently on a public-private partnerships panel at the Global Risk Forum in Davos, Switzerland and an impact investing panel at the University of San Diego’s Leadership for Peace and Prosperity Conference.Outside of DRI, she is an Adjunct Professor at New York University teaching a course in public-private partnerships. Her independent work focuses on private sector solutions for poverty alleviation and social inclusion.  She conducted research on economic liberalization policy in India, designed a market research survey for a non-governmental organization in Kenya, and was a member of a climate change think tank for the United Nations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bard College at Simon’s Rock and a Master’s in International Business from NYU.

Michele Ostler
President, Penta Dynamic Solutions

Michele Ostler is the Venue Manager for DRI International and handles venue site management for DRI courses.

Prior to her work with DRI, Michele spent 4 years at Goldman Sachs as a Human Resources Generalist and In-House Event Planner. Following her tenure there, Michele has served as the Founder and Event Planner for Penta Dynamic Solutions – a full service association management and event planning firm.

Michele serves on the Board of The Disaster Recovery International Foundation as well as the Manhattan Board of the American Cancer Society.

A native New Yorker, Michele holds a BA and an MA in Psychology from Marist College. Michele resides in Long Island with her husband Tony and twins Vincent and Madeline.

Pete Renneker, MBCP
Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP

With over 15 years of experience in enterprise risk management, Pete Renneker has built and supported resilience programs throughout North America, Asia and Europe for commercial and non-profit clients in the financial services, manufacturing, health services, chemical, energy, natural resources, and aerospace industry sectors. He has developed multiple resilience program management methodologies including cyber resilience processes, business continuity lifecycles, program transformation approaches, and catastrophic organizational change techniques. In his current role, Pete builds enterprise risk solutions with clients across multiple business and technology risk domains, helping clients design, deploy, and sustain resilience.

In his personal time, Pete volunteers with a number of educational and health & human service institutions. His roles include MBA Advisor to students at The University of Dayton, independent review committee member for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1600 Standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs, and multiple positions with local chapters of the United Way.  Pete holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton.

Michele L. Turner manages the Governance, Risk and Compliance efforts within Microsoft’s Universal Store organization, which operates the company’s online storefronts and payment processing.  In this role, she collaborates with all levels of Engineering and Management to drive consistency in the development and maintenance of operational, technology, and regulatory risk and control processes.

Prior to this role, Turner managed the Unified Incident Response initiative within Microsofts’ Trust Worthy Computing (TwC) organization, addressing the coordination and enhancements of policy, standards and procedures (PSPs) and test response processes from a security, privacy and reliability perspective.    Turner has also driven the TwC Policy Governance process, as well as the governance and risk management areas for the business of Microsoft IT within the office of the CIO.  Previous Microsoft roles also include the development of the operational enterprise risk management and enterprise crisis management groups, as well as managing the pandemic program.

Turner is an Instructor within DRI, as well as a Director within the DRI Foundation Board, which assists organizations and communities impacted by disaster to engage with relief organizations worldwide efficiently and effectively as they begin the recovery process. She is a former member of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) Standards Committee, Disaster Recovery Journal (DRJ) Editorial Advisory Board, as well as past Chair of the DRI International Strategic Alliances Committee. Turner also is recognized as a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), a Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified GRC Professional (GRCP), and has achieved the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) designation.

Turner has been featured in the Diversity/Careers in Engineering and Information Technology magazine as a Woman of Color making her mark in IT. She has received her BA degree from Roosevelt University (Chicago, IL), and her Masters of Science degree in business continuity from Norwich University (Northfield, VT).  She has 20+ years’ experience in information technology, governance, business continuity, and risk management related efforts.

Pascale Phelan, ABCP
Manager, DRI International 

Pascale joined DRI International in 2010 and serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors of the DRI Foundation. Prior to joining DRI, Pascale worked in business development at CIT, GE, and the Interpublic Group of Companies. She actively participates in community service with previous engagements in Alaska, Haiti, Ecuador, and Kenya.
