Come On People Now, Smile On Your Brother!

5 2 2013 Smile on Your BrotherAs you know, Philadelphia, the “city of brotherly love” is the location for DRI2013. In keeping with that theme of love and brotherhood, we think about those in the Philadelphia community who may need our help.  The DRI Foundation – founded with the intent of giving back and helping where help is needed – is on track to do just that while we spend time in Philadelphia.  Our Volunteer Day is just six days away, with projects set in and around the city. Philabundance will be hosting our volunteers in their food bank warehouse and Habitat for Humanity will provide work for us in their Restore Warehouse and with cleanup and light construction work in that same general area of the city.

It isn’t too late to sign up to volunteer, and I encourage you to do so.  Please e-mail me at cberger@drif.org as soon as possible if you haven’t yet signed up but have a desire to do so.

For those of you already signed up, please note that I need to get your confirmation of participation immediately so that bus and food requirements can be met.  Thanks!  And remember that on Mondaynight of conference week at 6:30 p.m. we will have a volunteers “pep rally,” with instructions given for the following day, T-shirts and volunteer bags handed out, and dinner provided.  Tuesday morning our first group of volunteers will gather at 8:30 a.m. at the Marriott to board the bus to Habitat for Humanity.  At 11:30 a.m., our second group of volunteers will assemble to board the bus for the work effort at Philabundance.  You are reminded that both of these efforts are work projects that require you wearing the proper work attire.  No open-toed shoes, and tuxedos and gowns are reserved for the Thursday night gala!

All volunteers please continue to look for e-mails for specific meeting times and last minute details.  As mentioned previously, please provide me with your immediate confirmation that you will be volunteering!  Sadly, some of you have had other priorities pop up and can no longer honor your original commitment to the volunteer day.  Stuff happens. I get that. I just need to know if you are still on board so I can take care of you by providing food and transportation while you help others.

See you all very, very soon.
